Whilst researching this piece on Poly Styrene, the frontwoman of the 1970s British punk band X-Ray Spex, I developed a sort of parasocial kinship for both Poly (a.k.a. Marian Elliot) and her daughter, Celeste.

The lore of The Runaways is conflicting. The 2010 biopic attempts to chronicle the rapid rise and fall of the band's four-year run from the lead singer Cherie Curie's memoir, Neon Angel: A Memoir of a Runaway, but there's a notable absence in the film.
