Want to write for girlblog?
girlblog needs you!
Love alternative arts and culture as much as I do? Even more than me? Well, shit.
I’m looking for writers of any gender to write content for girlblog on a voluntary basis. If you’re interested in writing articles or reviews on alternative arts and culture, then I’d love to have your content on girlblog!
I want to hear media and cultural commentary from an intersectional perspective covering the subjects of:
Film & TV
Music
Literature
Lifestyle
Articles are typically longer form, between 1500-2500 words, and reviews are a little shorter, between 500-1000 words. They can be about current hot topics, overlooked media from around the world, significant cultural figures or events from history, a spotlight on your favourite artist, book, film, TV show — if you think girlblog is the perfect place for your idea, I’d love to hear it!
I’m also interested in publishing work from fellow poets on the literature section of the website, so if you write angry, sad, thoughtful, disdainful, sexy, disgusting, disturbing, bizarre poems, then I strongly encourage you to submit them to girlblog for consideration.
how do i submit my work?
Email your ideas to enquiries@girlblog.co.uk. Let me know:
What section of the website you’re submitting to
What topic you want to write about
Why you think the piece would fit on girlblog
I also want to know about you as a person! So please let me know:
Why do you want to write for girlblog?
What’s your writing/creative background? (It’s OK if you don’t have experience!)
Are you interested in writing for girlblog on a regular basis?
want to be an editor?
If you’re willing to take on the task (for which I will be incredibly grateful for), I’m looking for people to take on voluntary roles as editors. This would involve writing one article per month for your designated subject and handling submissions from prospective contributors.
If you’re interested in becoming an editor, let me know what section you would like to take on:
Film & TV
Music
Literature
Lifestyle
Why you think you’re a good fit for the role, why you’re interested in being an editor for girlblog, and what your writing/creative background is. Ideally, editors would have a little experience with writing, but it doesn’t have to be published work — just a keen interest and a demonstrable, relevant portfolio!
Editors would send any final pieces to me, Rachel, the Editor-in-Chief, for approval before I publish them on girlblog.
If you do want to be an editor, I ask that you take on the role for a minimum of three consecutive months — any less and I recommend you remain a contributor.
